The new Kimber R7 Mark comes with a high-capacity magazine, a standard 11-round magazine and a high-capacity extended 13-round magazine. The 3.37" stainless steel barrel with a 1:10 LH twist is FNC hardcoated and has a deep muzzle crown. There is no manual safety, other than the only safety is a standard lever integrated into the device. Controls are ambidextrous.

All R7 Makos are optic ready. Optics Installed (OI) model comes with Crimson Trace CT-1500 optics already installed. Includes 3-dot TruGlo Tritium Pro Night Sights with orange front rim and white rear rims.
The barrel is mounted further back than most designs and lowers the barrel when the slide is opened. Less attack means less movement and reduces visible recurrence.
The closed surface provides additional strength to the slide. This design minimizes the potential build-up of materials between the barrel hood and the slide.

Weighing 5.00-6.75 pounds, Kimber's flat face trigger pulls crisp and clean, increasing both confidence and accuracy. There isn't much information on this gun, when I saw it listed for sale at a local gun shop I knew I had to get my hands on it!
Polymer-formed 1911s aren't exactly new, but Kimber's polymer, double-stack 1911s aren't exactly something you see or expect from this company every day.
The gun we are reviewing is not the Kimber "BP 10 II" seen (above), the gun we have appears to be a Government BUL M-5 with the words "Kimber Polymer Custom" on the slide.
The trigger guard has a different shape (I like it better than the BP 10), it uses a carbon fiber trigger, the handle is different in design, and the beaver tail is silver.

From the little information available on this gun, we understand that it was built by Kimber with Israeli BUL polymer stocks.
We bought this gun used, it was completely dirty! Considering this gun is over 15 years old, we wanted to clean it up.
Big shout out to OC Custom Coating for providing a storage ramp and a nice gloss finish! The gun feeds flawlessly and feels great.
We were able to find similar groups in our community. I don't think it's race gun stuff, but it's a really nice full size 1911.
Kimber 1911 Rapide Scorpius 9mm, 5\
If you are in California, double stack means you can hold 10 rounds in your 1911, for those outside of California, you are looking at 14 mags and other options.
Usually this is the 14th magazine that fits down. On a single stack 1911 you can get 10 magazines that protrude slightly from the bottom of the gun.
Depending on the type, you may also experience feeding issues, so choose your magazines wisely! Most 1911 feed malfunctions occur because of the magazine!
Since Kimber no longer manufactures this gun, you cannot purchase mags from their website, however Mec-Gar does sell magazines for this gun!
Kimber 1911 Ultra Carry Ii 9mm Two Tone 9 Rounds 3\
The magazine that came with this gun is glossy, the Mec-Gar magazines are more matte. I had problems with the Mec-Gar magazine not coming out of the gun when it was empty, so after a good lube in the mag, the mag would drop out just fine!
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of this "plum" colored slide. Maybe it was fashionable at the time? In the dark light on set it looks black, but in our photo studio it's really skin.
I'm also not a fan of seeing obvious blacks, they slow things down a bit, especially if you're shooting in the dark or there's black. Although these sights are pretty dead, I will replace them with tritium sights when I get a chance!
This is a smooth shooting rifle. Compared to my Kimber Ultra Carry II, I would say the trigger on the Ultra Carry II is smoother and lighter. However, the Ultra Carry II is a short gun, so the recoil is very sharp! Kimber seems to have improved the effects over the last 12 years.

If this gun had an Ultra Carry II trigger (or any modern Kimber) it would be amazing!
I also really like the flat trigger guard. The traditional 1911 (and BP 10 II) has a rounded stack. I like to put my finger in front of the safety of the top gun control, it would be nice if they refined the front of the trigger like on Glock or STI 2011.
This means you are limited in grip options, it won't fit in my regular 1911 holster.
